Consider an Auditory Processing assessment for children if they have difficulty following instructions, frequently ask for repetition, struggle with reading or spelling, or have trouble understanding speech in noisy environments. For adults, an assessment may be needed if they experience similar difficulties, such as trouble understanding conversations in noisy places, frequently asking others to repeat themselves, or feeling that they hear but do not understand what is being said. These assessments help identify any auditory processing issues and provide tailored recommendations for improving listening and communication skills.
Our auditory processing assessment begins with a telehealth consultation to understand your or your child’s auditory processing concerns. During this consultation, we’ll determine whether a comprehensive assessment is necessary or if a screening may suffice. From ages 4 years to adulthood, our evaluations may include:

Auditory Skills Assessment
Above 4 years
Evaluates Speech Discrimination, Phonological Awareness, and Nonspeech Processing.
Synthesis Picture Test
4-7 years
Assesses phonemic awareness, decoding, and memory.
Acoustic Pioneer’s Feather Squadron
 Above 5 years
Tests lateralisation, tonal-pattern processing, and more using an iPad.
Central Test Battery
Above 7 Years
Based on Jack Katz’s Buffalo Model, it covers:
– Decoding: Recognising sounds.
– Tolerance Fading Memory: Understanding speech in noise.
– Organisation: Sequencing auditory information.
– Integration: Combining auditory and visual cues.
Following the assessment the results will be discussed in detail with options for intervention and or strategies to be implemented; and a detailed report will be provided to you.
