Bindya Debonn
Director & Principal Audiologist
BSc (Sp & Hg), MASLP, MClinAud, AAudA
Bindya Debonn has always been passionate about helping others. Growing up in a family of healthcare professionals, she was naturally drawn to a career that could make a real difference in people’s lives. Her passion for audiology ignited when she witnessed the transformative power of hearing aids on a relative’s life.
With degrees in Speech Pathology and Audiology, Bindya built a strong foundation in speech and hearing healthcare overseas. After moving to Melbourne in 2012, she worked as a claims manager in the Workers’ Compensation sector. However, her deep-seated desire to help those in need led her to retrain, earning her Master of Clinical Audiology from the University of Melbourne in 2019, along with an accreditation from Audiology Australia.
One of her most impactful experiences was participating in a hearing health outreach program in Malawi during her studies at the University of Melbourne. The joy on people’s faces when they could hear again—whether through hearing aids or simple wax removal—reaffirmed her career choice.
As a clinical audiologist, Bindya enjoys working with people of all ages, helping them improve their hearing and reconnect with the world. She is known for her unwavering patient focus. With 15 years in hearing healthcare and corporate roles combined, she excels in patient care through active listening, compassion, problem-solving, and adaptability. One of her most touching success stories involves a mother who brought her young daughter in for a hearing test. During their conversation, the mother opened up about her own untested hearing struggles, which had led to marital issues and eventually divorce. Bindya suggested a hearing test for the mother, revealing significant, lifelong hearing loss. The day the mother received her hearing aids was incredibly emotional. She had tears of joy as she realised how much she had missed out on in life. Her children were overjoyed that their mom could finally hear them, and she felt a renewed sense of hope and empowerment to pursue a nursing career to support her young family.
In her spare time, Bindya enjoys teaching and mentoring young lives at her local church, learning the guitar, fostering relationships and going on long drives with her husband.
